September in Vail has its own personality.
The first hints of fall begin appearing across the mountainsides, cooler evenings return to the valley, and for two weekends, the sound of polka music, clinking steins, and plenty of laughter fills Vail’s pedestrian villages.
In 2026, Vail Oktoberfest returns to Lionshead Village from September 11–13, followed by a second weekend in Vail Village from September 18–20. The celebration brings Bavarian-inspired traditions, live entertainment, competitions, food, costumes, and a distinctly Vail interpretation of Oktoberfest to the mountains.
From our quieter home in East Vail, you can make the festival only one part of a much bigger fall weekend.
Pick Your Oktoberfest Weekend—or Experience Both
Vail gives you two chances to join the celebration.
The first weekend takes over Lionshead Village, where live performances run throughout the day alongside events such as the Bavarian Costume Contest, stein-holding competitions, keg bowling, and the Polidori Bratwurst Eating Competition. Musicians and groups scheduled for the 2026 Lionshead weekend include Helmut Fricker & The Rhinelanders, The Polkanauts, Average German Band, Neue Polka, and the Denver Kickers Schuhplattlers.
One week later, the festivities move to Vail Village, with another full schedule of music and competitions. The second weekend includes performers such as Austrian Trio Grande and the Alpen Auerhahn Schuhplattlers alongside returning Oktoberfest favorites.
Both weekends begin on Friday and continue through Sunday, giving you plenty of flexibility to build the festival into a longer mountain escape rather than treating it as a single afternoon event.
Let the Festival Be the Lively Part of the Weekend
Oktoberfest is meant to be energetic. That is part of the fun.
Then, when the music winds down, East Vail offers a completely different atmosphere.
Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort sits across 22 scenic acres in East Vail, away from the busier center of town and surrounded by mountain scenery. Two Town of Vail bus stops are located directly on the property, and complimentary bus service connects guests with the Vail Transportation Center in approximately 15–20 minutes.
That means you can head into the villages for Oktoberfest without making parking part of the day’s plan, then return to our quieter corner of Vail when you have had your fill of crowds and festivities.
Save Some Daylight for Fall
There is a good reason not to spend the entire weekend under an Oktoberfest tent.
Fall transforms the landscape around East Vail, and our location puts outdoor time within easy reach. Nearby hiking trails, biking routes, Gore Creek, and the surrounding mountain environment make it easy to fit fresh air into the hours before the festival begins.
Start the morning slowly in your condo, head outside for a walk or hike, and make your way into town when the afternoon festivities begin.
You do not need an ambitious itinerary. A fall weekend can be as simple as golden aspens in the morning and live Bavarian music later in the day.
Come Back to a Condo, Not Just a Room
Festival weekends are often better when everyone has somewhere comfortable to regroup.
Our condo accommodations include one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos and townhomes with full kitchens and living areas. Couples can keep things simple in a one-bedroom, while families or groups of friends can spread out across larger accommodations with more room to relax together.
A full kitchen also means the weekend does not need to revolve around restaurant reservations. Make coffee before heading outside, keep snacks and drinks on hand, or settle in for an easy evening after spending most of the day in town.

After hours of walking through the villages—or perhaps testing your endurance in a stein-holding competition—our Athletic Club offers a different way to wind down.

Make Oktoberfest the Excuse for a Fall Weekend
Vail Oktoberfest may be what puts September on the calendar, but the festival does not have to be the entire trip.
Come for the music, costumes, keg bowling, stein-holding competitions, and Bavarian traditions. Stay for crisp mornings, changing aspens, mountain trails, quiet evenings, and the opportunity to experience Vail during a different season.
