Things To Do in Winter in Vail

Vail Winter Fun for All Ages

Snowshoeing

If you love to hike or trail run in the summer then you’ll love snowshoeing Vail in the winter. Snowshoeing is a great way to explore the back country, take in great views and get a great workout. East Vail of course has some of its own snowshoe trails. These are in the natural local environment and do not require a ski pass. Take a group of friends or the whole family, either way, you are in for a spectacular day in the mountains.

Nordic Skiing

The Vail Nordic Center offers 17 kilometers of groomed ski trails and 10 kilometers of separate snowshoe trails. You can pick up the course just 2 miles west of Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort at the Vail Golf Course. All trails from the beginners to the advanced have stunning views of the majestic Gore Range. The free Town of Vail bus runs regularly from the Resort or take advantage of free parking for customers using the trails. Day passes cost $18 -enjoy snowshoeing, Nordic skiing or fat tire biking.  Season passes $115 (Vail Resident) and $145 (non-resident). We do not have discount offers for the Nordic center but you can see other partner discounts here.

Snowmobiling in Vail & More

NOVA Guides offers an array of fun winter activities including snowmobiling at over 12,000 feet.  You won’t believe the VIEWS!  NOVA offers partner discounts to Vail Racquet Club guests so be sure to click here to book.

Extreme Skiing & Riding

In addition to Vail Mountain, the White River National Forest is in our backyard. The infamous Vail Chutes are across the street from Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort. We definitely do not recommend venturing off-trail unless with a highly qualified guide.  Take a look at Vail Powder Guides offering guided backcountry skiing and snowboarding off of Vail Pass.

Ice Climbing

Ice climbing is certainly not for the faint of heart. But you often see these fearless souls in the frozen waterfalls of East Vail. If this is your sport, there’s a community of ice climbers at Apex Climbing ready to show you the ropes, literally.

Vail Segway

Vail Segway offers a fun, unique way to explore the Vail Valley. And because the walkways throughout the Village are heated, your Segway doesn’t even need 4 wheel drive! Easy to learn and made for exploring, Segways provide a great way to get out and have some fun!

The Grand Tour of Vail delivers the most exciting way to spend a day in town! Cruising through the beautiful Valley, you’ll hear tons of unique stories, learn your way around, and find all the best places to take pictures.
